Below is our standard checklist featuring items families should complete before school starts. Please also watch for information from your specific school about steps to complete before the first day.

Complete Registration - Update and Verify Jeffco Connect

- ALL parents/guardians must complete this step to be considered registered.
- Review all info, make updates, then save.
- Stay in Jeffco Connect for next steps - there are links in Jeffco Connect to the fee payment and the meal account system, SchoolCafe.

While logged in to
Jeffco Connect, click on "Jeffco Student Fee Payment"
Set Up/Add Funds to Meal Account OR Apply for Free & Reduced Meals

Families with students who intend to purchase meals need to set up an account in
SchoolCafe, if not already done. Funds left in last year’s account will automatically roll over.
Apply for the Free & Reduced Meals program in
SchoolCafe. Families must reapply for this program every school year beginning July 1.
For 2021-22, due to the extension of USDA waivers, each student is eligible to receive one breakfast (where provided) and one lunch each day at no cost. Funds in meal accounts can be used to purchase additional meals or a la carte items.
Familiarize Yourself with School Info

your school's website for important start-of-school info, like:
- Supply lists and forms due
- School schedule, drop-off & pick-up procedures
- Attendance policies
- Days off - holidays, early release, teacher professional development
- Emergency and security procedures
- School Student/Parent Handbook
- Links to the school's social media accounts
- Teacher/classroom webpages
Immunization Records Update and Student Medications
By Start of School on August 17, 2021
- Provide immunization updates to the school health aide (info here).
- Provide medication forms and medications to the school's health aide on the first day of in-person school (for in-person learners.)
