Registration Checklist

This page is meant to provide current and prospective students and their families with an overview of items that might need to be addressed to register for school.

Be sure to check your school's webpage for specific information about registration and start-of-school planning. If you have any trouble with your JeffcoConnect login, contact your child's school for assistance.

How to register, if you are:

NEW to Jeffco Public Schools

If you are new to our district, start by going to JeffcoConnect through our For Families webpagee. Once you get there, choose "New Parent/Guardian to Jeffco Schools" and begin the process of setting up a parent account.

Once you finish entering your parent information, enter student information for each student you need to enroll in Jeffco. After you have entered all of your student information, hit "Submit."

Once you complete the JeffcoConnect process, contact your school and arrange a time to provide them with the following required documents:

  • Original birth certificate, affidavit, or other reliable document
  • Immunization records
  • Proof of residence*

Check with the school, as well, to see if they require any additional documents such as a new student profile form.

Returning to Jeffco, But Going to a New School

Since you are returning to Jeffco, you already have a JeffcoConnect account. Do not create a new JeffcoConnect account. If you are changing schools because you have moved, log in to JeffcoConnect to change your parent address. Then change the address of each student you have enrolled in a Jeffco school.

Once you update JeffcoConnect, contact your new school and arrange a time to provide them with the following required documents:

  • Original birth certificate, affidavit, or other reliable document
  • Immunization records
  • Proof of residence*

Check with the school, as well, to see if they require any additional documents such as a new student profile form.

Returning to Jeffco and Attending the Same School

All parents/guardians must update JeffcoConnect every year in order for their students to be considered registered.

Log in to JeffcoConnect to be sure all your child's information is up to date, such as health, residence details, and contact preferences. Be sure to save when done.

*Proof of residence can be an official piece of mail like a utility bill or lease/mortgage agreement that shows the name of the parent/guardian on the student's registration and the same address as the student.

Get Informed Before YOU START School

Familarize yourself with the Campus Parent Portal. This is where you will be able to view your student's academic information. You can get to Portal through JeffcoConnect, by logging in and selecting "Campus Portal" from the list of items in the User Information box. For elementary school students, you can view attendance and access immunization records. For middle and high school students, you also can view class schedules, assignments, and grades.

Familarize yourself with school attendance policies. Learn about any forms used by your school for pre-arranged absences. Some schools require forms be submitted days ahead of planned absences. District attendance policies can be found in the Student and Family Handbook (formerly Code of Conduct).

Familarize yourself with emergency and safety procedures, as well as how to respond when running a drill. Be sure you know what to do if you are in a school when an emergency occurs, and what will be required/expected of your student if there is an emergency at school. Discuss these procedures with your child and review the district's emergency procedures and protocols, as well as any at your school.

Familarize yourself with the district's school closure policies and procedures, as well as those of your specific school. Learn more about the district's school closure policies.

Review the Student and Family Handbook (formerly the Code of Conduct) so that you and your student are familiar with all district policies including student conduct, accountability, discipline, safety, health, etc.

Volunteer at your school. Our schools LOVE to have parent volunteers! Check with your child's school for where they may need some help. Additionally, be sure to check if they require any volunteer training first, so you are prepared and ready the first time you volunteer.

Join the PTA/PTO. Your school's website may have a PTA page, or the PTA might have its own social media presence. Review opportunities to get involved or volunteer for school events.

Join Watch DOGS (for dads). See if your school offers the Watch DOG program for dads who want to volunteer to be at school and sign up. It's a fun and eye-opening experience!
