Participate in Athletics

Students interested in participating in an athletics program should review the information on this webpage regarding eligibility, fees, requirements, forms and the student-athlete handbook.

Swimmers in the pool


Participation in interscholastic athletics as a part of a school’s education program is a privilege and not a right. Students wishing to participate are required to meet standards of personal behavior and academic performance related to school purposes.

Note: Eligibility for athletics may change if a student transfers from one school to another. Please see CHSAA transfer rules starting with Article 1800.00 for more information.

Fees for Participation

The fee to participate is $185 per sport. Read about where athletic participation fees go.

Forms and Resources

Athletic registration is available online. Prospective student-athletes should visit their school's athletics webpage to register. Parent instructions for online registration are other resources are below. Families with questions or who need help registering a student for a specific sports program should contact the school athletics department.


A yearly physical stating the student is physically fit to participate in high school athletics is required. Those who are licensed to perform physicals include MDs, DOs, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and doctors of chiropractic who are school physical certified.
