Academic Partnerships
Families and educators working together for student success.
Academic Partnerships are intentional relationships where educators and families share responsibility for improving learning and strengthening belonging for every student.
Before we ever invested in a child, a family already had.
Every day, families entrust Jeffco with the person they love most—their child. We believe that trust deserves schools that recognize families as essential partners in their child’s education.
Academic Partnerships honor that trust by bringing families and educators together around what matters most: each child’s well-being, learning and growth.

Staying Connected to Your Child’s Learning
Every Family. Every School. Every Day.
No matter which Jeffco school your child attends, we want every family to feel connected to their child’s learning and confident partnering with their school.
Staying connected to your child’s learning can look like:
- Knowing what your child is learning and why it matters. Having a clear understanding of what students are learning and how that learning connects to their grade level, courses and continued growth.
- Understanding how your child is doing. Grades are only one part of the picture. Information about progress, strengths, areas for growth and additional support can help families see a fuller picture of their child’s learning.
- Having resources that make learning easier to navigate. Each month, Jeffco’s Community Update will highlight information and resources connected to student learning. Schools will also share learning-related information through their regular communication platforms, creating more ways for families to understand and stay connected to their child’s learning throughout the year.
- Being an active partner in your child’s learning. Families bring important knowledge about their children, and educators bring knowledge about teaching and learning. Asking questions, sharing information and working together helps build a shared understanding of how to support each child’s learning and growth.
Supporting learning at home isn't about families becoming teachers at home. Academic partnerships and supporting learning at home is about families and educators having the information, relationships and shared understanding they need to support students together.
How Families and Schools Work Together
Strong partnerships are built through trust, two-way communication, listening and a shared commitment to student success.
Four questions you can ask your child’s school to stay connected to their learning:
- What is my child learning?
- How is my child doing?
- How can I help?
- How can we work together?
Families should feel comfortable asking these questions—and sharing what they know about their child—throughout the school year.
Your Role Matters: 6 Ways to Support Your Child’s Learning
You already support your child’s learning in more ways than you may realize.
Supporting learning doesn’t mean becoming your child’s teacher at home. It can mean asking questions, encouraging effort, helping set goals, staying connected to progress or sharing what you know about your child with their school.
Jeffco’s Your Role Matters guides offer practical, age-appropriate ideas for supporting learning as your child grows.
6 Roles of Support

Each guide includes examples of what the six roles can look like at your child’s age, simple actions you can try and questions you can use when talking with your child’s teacher or school team.

Putting it in Action
Parent-teacher conferences (Family Partnership Meetings) are an opportunity to understand how your child is doing, celebrate what’s going well, ask questions, share what you know about your child and work together on next steps for their learning.
Know grade level expectations. Develop a clear picture of the skills and knowledge your child should have at their grade level, so you can monitor their progress.
100% Belonging. 100% Achievement.
At Jeffco Public Schools, we believe every student deserves to feel they belong, achieve at high levels and be supported by the adults who care most about them.
Strong Academic Partnerships work towards making that possible.
When families and educators understand what students are learning, communicate openly about how they're doing and work together when support is needed, we create stronger conditions for every student to succeed.

Every family brings strengths. Every family has a role. Every family belongs in the partnership.
