Dropout Prevention & Reengagement

Dropout Prevention and Reengagement is a unit in Jeffco Public Schools within the Student Engagement office dedicated to reengaging students who are at risk of dropping out or who have dropped out of or are truant from school. This office works to connect students and families to the educational, social and community supports that prepare them for a successful future.

Jeffco offers support for families, students and school personnel with issues of expulsion, truancy and with students who are currently under legal supervision.

Student Engagement works with schools and the families of students who have attendance problems and are struggling in school. Please contact Jolee Mann, Dropout Prevention Coordinator, at 303-982-6564 for questions about Jeffco's Truancy Court or attendance support.

The office collaborates with the Jefferson County Juvenile Assessment Center (720-497-7770) and other county agencies to provide students and parents and guardians with resources.

Students in the court system

The Department of School Safety works with at-risk students who are involved in the juvenile justice system, on probation or paroled back into the community. In addition to notifying school administrators regarding criminal charges, the team oversees the threat management process and the development of school safety plans.

The team is available to assist parents and guardians in navigating multiple systems by providing consultation, support in finding resources and making appropriate referrals for services.

In addition, team members are the liaisons to the courts, district attorney's office, probation and diversion, law enforcement, Department of Children, Youth and Families, Jefferson Center for Mental Health and the Juvenile Assessment Center.
