Food & Nutrition Services

Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) serves meals at 128 schools across the district, employing more than 450 dedicated staff members. Each year, our team serves over six million lunches and more than one million breakfasts to students. With an annual operating budget of $40 million, the department relies heavily on federal and state funding to sustain operations and ensure access to nutritious meals for all students.

FNS staff are often the first employees to arrive on site each day, working diligently to prepare breakfast and lunch so that students can start their day nourished, focused, and ready for academic success. FNS operates a test kitchen where menu items are developed and a warehouse that delivers food and supply products to our schools daily.

Mission, Vision and Core Values

Meet the Leadership

Healthy School Meals and Student Benefits

With the passage of Healthy School Meals for All, many families will have access to free breakfast and lunch  for their students. All schools served by Jeffco Food and Nutrition Services will offer both breakfast and lunch. Jeffco Food and Nutrition Services remains committed to serving meals that meet USDA guidelines, ensuring students always have access to nutritious, healthy options at school.

Complete the Student Benefit Application

Despite free meals, families should still complete a Student Benefit Application (SBA). Completing the form could help schools receive extra funding to support programs like literacy and math resources for students and professional development for staff!

Summer Food Service Program

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides nutritious meals to students 18 years and younger during the summer or other continuous school calendar vacation programs. Meals are provided to all students (ages 1-18) at no cost at approved SFSP sites in areas with high concentrations of low-income students.

SFSP sponsoring organizations are operated by public and private nonprofit school food authorities, nonprofit residential and nonresidential camps, local, municipal, county or state governments, public or private colleges or universities participating in the National Youth Sports Program and private nonprofit organizations.
