Notice of Nondiscrimination
Jeffco Public Schools is committed to providing a safe learning and work environment where all members of the school community are treated with dignity and respect. Accordingly, the district does not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, creed, color, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, religion, veteran services, pregnancy, marital status, age, ancestry, genetic information, need for special education services or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law (“protected status”).
For further information regarding the district’s non-discrimination policies and complaint procedures, please see the following policies and regulations:
An individual who experiences or witnesses conduct that may amount to unlawful discrimination is encouraged to promptly report any alleged discrimination to an administrator, counselor, teacher, supervisor, or the district’s compliance officer and may file a formal complaint in person, by phone, email, or online form through the district’s website.
When there is a complaint, the district will assess the complaint and process a complaint through the investigation procedures in our policy. This includes interviewing the parties and witnesses and gathering relevant evidence. Informal resolution may be used if appropriate.
The investigator will make a good faith effort to complete the investigation and make any findings within sixty business days after the report, with an additional thirty business day extension possible due to unavoidable delays and/or the availability of new evidence.
Both parties may request supportive measures at any time. Supportive measures may include, but are not limited to: counseling, extensions of deadlines or other course-related adjustments, extra time for homework or tests, the opportunity to resubmit homework or retake a test, remedying an impacted grade, excused absences, the opportunity for home instruction, modifications to class schedules, and restrictions on contact between the parties to a report of discrimination.
