Cloud Vendor Partnerships
Software Purchasing
As Jeffco Public Schools adopts cloud computer services to fulfill its educational objectives, the district will address data privacy when student information is transferred to cloud computing service providers. As a district, there is interest in how data is collected, stored, accessed, shared and deleted. Transparency in regards to data governance and privacy compliance is essential as cloud computing continues to expand.
Software Vetting Process
There are thousands of online and digital resources that can be great additions to the classroom. But, unfortunately, some can put staff, students and families at risk. The Jeffco Public Schools Educational Technology and Information Security teams have created a process to vet software titles commonly used throughout the district.
The process has been created to accomplish the following goals:
- Increase transparency for families and community members.
- Measure how software protects student data and metadata.
- Encourage conversations around data use, security and privacy.
- Ensure Jeffco is compliant with state legislation.
The process is also flexible, giving schools choice.
- All software titles, subscriptions and textbooks with digital content costing more than $3,500 per school are vetted.
- Schools have a choice for titles costing less than $3,500:
- Schools can choose to play stay with the district-vetted software list.
- Schools can explore new titles and review security or privacy policies on their own.
