Data Governance

Jeffco Public Schools is launching a new data governance initiative supported by district leadership.

Data governance is the management of data-related activities within Jeffco, including strategies, policies, processes and standards that help ensure that district data is accurate, consistent, secure and used effectively to support Jeffco goals. 

The district is partnering with an implementation vendor, Plante Moran, who has expertise in building the foundational structures for an impactful and scalable data governance program through the following activities:

  • Assessment of the district’s current-state data management practices, needs and “pain points.”
  • Determination of the most suitable data governance framework (“how to do this work”).
  • Creation of data journey mappings to enhance understanding of the district’s data and usage.
  • Development of a roadmap and implementation plan.
  • Initial implementation of processes, policies and standards for an initial set of use cases.

This work will be occurring through spring, 2024. More updates will be provided as the initiative evolves.
