JeffcoNet Fiber Network
In October 2019, the Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education voted to invest in constructing a private fiber utility to provide network access for administrative sites and schools. The project scope was originally planned to encompass all district sites, but due to the pandemic, material shortages, inflation and added permitting fees in each city, the project was split into two phases.
Phase 1, which includes all Jeffco Front Range sites, was completed during the summer of 2023. Phase 2, which includes all Jeffco mountain sites, is on hold until there are viable funding and collaboration opportunities with municipalities.
The overall goal is to provide robust connectivity and equitable bandwidth for all students and staff. The JeffcoNet Phase 1 project allows the district to expand bandwidth and internet accessibility as it is needed. The Phase 2 sites will continue to be served by Lumen and will be continually monitored and upgraded as needed for additional cost.
